I started skating when I was seven years old with the International Falls Figure Skating Club. It was there that I fell in love with the glide of my blade on the ice and the feeling of flying through the air. I began competing and testing through IFFSC. As I passed my way through the badges, advanced skating skills and singles tests; I was given the opportunity to become a mentor. After seven years of mentorship, I was approved to become a coach in 2009 for IFFSC.

I graduated from Falls High School and Rainy River Community College in the spring of 2010. That fall I started at Bemidji State University, pursuing a degree in elementary education with a middle school mathematics endorsement, psychology minor, and a coaching certificate. It was then that I started coaching for the Bemidji Figure Skating Club. Since, I have had the opportunity to work with both hockey and figure skaters from Park Rapids, Rainy River, Grand Forks, Spokane Figure Skating Clubs, as well as the Northstar (Bagley) and Scott Hamilton Skating Academies to name a few. I am looking forward to dabbling more in the adult, adaptive, and therapeutic realms of skating in addition to sled hockey.

My coaching approach is structured around athlete-centered goals by developing skills through kinesthesia and spacial awareness; encouraging skaters to progress through small milestones and building firm foundations that lead to larger achievements. I, with my coaching team, aim to create an environment that fosters enjoyment through teamwork and personal growth for skaters, enhancing both their physical and mental capabilities on and off the ice.

Sharing the love of ice sports is a passion of mine. Remembering “why” we are out there serves as a driving force to reach each skater’s goals. My ultimate goal is to be a collaborative guide for each one of my skaters; not only providing the resources and tools they need for their journey in skating, but also developing well-rounded people.

Over the years I have had the privilege of learning from a number of renowned olympic and world coaches, gold medalists, choreographers, mental performance coaches, and skating program directors including; Scott Hamilton, Kori Ade, Bianka Szijgyártó, Tom Hickey, Paula Trujillo, Kelly Hobbs, Laura Pursell, Gordon Harrison, Heather Van Hulle, Chloe Kirkpatrick and many more.
